Improving education for the benefit of everyone
Bias must not exist in education. With her own children attending school in District 39, Mamnun has a first-hand understanding of the importance of a quality education for any and all New York City students. As a result of COVID-19, our city’s academic disparity has become even more apparent. Mamnun will develop a plan that includes affordable childcare and employer support for any and all working families, and a wide range of accessible and extensive CUNY resources, in order to ensure that our students possess access to the correct technology and the internet.
Putting Housing Affordability First
The price of a home should not be prohibitive. As a New York City resident for nearly 30 years, Mamnun understands the importance of low-cost housing and affordable rent. As New Yorkers struggle to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, economic uncertainty seems to be a major source of concern. There are a lot of people who can’t afford to pay their rent and will be evicted soon. We must make absolutely sure that we invest in the construction of new affordable housing throughout the city and increase economic opportunities for those who are on a low income. He intends to encourage the local administration to improve rent rules by making an investment in public or subsidised housing, enhancing rent-stabilized housing, as well as protecting low-income housing. Mamnun’s mission is to ensure that the city’s public housing, subsidised housing, and market-rate rental properties are all well-maintained and properly repaired.
A merger or acquisition of small businesses
In our neighbourhood, small, family-owned businesses are the lifeblood. Small businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to stay afloat in today’s economy due to rising rents and an increased reliance on online shopping. Commercial rent stability and assistance for small business owners are two of Mamnun’s most important objectives. With the help of public-private partnerships, aid can be simple and sensitive to the needs of the community, while ensuring that the community has access to funds.
Making Health Care More Affordable
Everyone should be able to get medical attention. Over the course of more than a decade in public health and as a taxi cab driver, Mamnun has gained a deep understanding of the urgent need for affordable and accessible healthcare for the residents of LA. In addition, he plans to push for an increase in the number of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in New York City to help fight and prevent chronic diseases. In addition, Mamnun will work to strengthen the ties between local healthcare providers and community hubs like libraries and public schools, as well as to develop strategies for combating hunger. Community Health Workers (members of the community who work with local health care providers) require funding, so the government should support them.
